Myopia Control

Childhood myopia or nearsightedness rates are increasing, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many experts believe it is due to increased screen time and reduced outdoor time. Treatment for myopia is no longer just waiting for the vision to get worse and providing the child with a pair of standard glasses or contact lenses. There are now advances and proactive treatments to reduce the progression of myopia. Based on sound research, Nova Eye Care Center doctors will develop a personalized treatment for your child. Treatment options include:

  • Overnight contact lenses are specifically designed to help reduce the progression of myopia and are customized based on each child's unique eyes. The lenses are worn at night only and taken out in the morning. They reshape the front surface of the eye at night and provide clear vision during the day without the need for glasses or conventional contact lenses.

  • Daytime soft contact lenses that are customized with a special optical design to reduce myopia progression. They are worn during the day and provide clear, comfortable vision during the day.

  • Prescription eye drops specifically formulated to a concentration that is known to effectively reduce the progression of myopia. Our optometrist will develop a specific schedule and concentration tailored to your child. They are designed to be used at night before bed. Your child will wear glasses or contact lenses during the day.
