Tina Vu Kelly, OD
Dr. Tina Vu Kelly (formerly known as Dr. Tina Vu) is the head Optometrist and owner of Nova Eye Care Center, LLC in Alexandria VA. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Dallas in 2003 and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston, College of Optometry in 2007. She completed her optometry clinical training at the University Eye Institute in Houston, TX, the Veterans Affairs Hospital Eye Clinic in Albuquerque, NM and the Naval Health Clinic in Quantico, VA. She received extensive training in management and treatment of eye diseases, such as acute conjunctivitis (“pink eye”), stye, amblyopia (lazy eye), glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic eye care. She also received extensive training on managing eye injuries, such as corneal abrasion and foreign body removal. She also specializes in hard to fit contact lens cases for keratoconus and irregular corneas. She also co-manages cataract and LASIK surgery with ophthalmologists in the Northern Virginia area. Dr. Kelly continues to attend lectures and strives to always keep up-to-date on the newest and best treatments and technology to care for her patients.
Dr. Kelly moved to the Washington DC metro area from Dallas, TX in 2007 after graduating from Optometry school. She has been an optometrist in Alexandria VA, providing eye care and helping people see better, since 2007. Jennifer R. Wong, OD
We are pleased to welcome Dr. Jennifer Wong to Nova Eye Care Center. She will be joining the practice on June 1, 2015. Dr. Wong obtained her undergraduate degree In Biology from Iowa State University and her Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University – Bloomington where she was admitted to the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. Following her graduation from Indiana University, Dr. Wong served on the faculty at the university for several years. During which time, she conducted industry and government-sponsored studies on recent innovations and design changes made to contact lenses, with an emphasis on multifocal contact lenses. Dr. Wong also proctored students in the university eye clinic and taught courses in contact lenses. She has participated in research that has been published in optometric journals and presented at national eye care conferences.
After relocating to Chicago she began working in a multi-disciplinary MD/OD practice and worked closely with the doctors that helped pioneer laser vision correction. In this practice she specialized in corneal diseases and customized contact lens fittings, including multi-focal contact lenses. She worked closely with keratoconus, corneal ectasia, and corneal dystrophy patients. Dr. Wong has extensive experience fitting scleral, gas permeable, and many more specialty contact lenses. In addition, she fits prosthetic or cosmetic contact lenses for disfigured eyes.
Deborah Kim, OD
Dr. Deborah Kim provides part time coverage as an independent Optometrist at Nova Eye Care Center in Alexandria. She graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a background in psychology and natural sciences. Thereafter, she completed her optometric studies at the University of Houston College of Optometry and graduated with honors. She was trained to perform post-operative cataract and glaucoma laser procedures, and minor lid surgeries to the Native Americans alongside the ophthalmologists in Oklahoma. These procedures are rarely learned by optometrists. Dr. Kim strives to be attentive to the ocular concerns of her patients as she has an uncle who is blind due to poor vision care. She especially enjoys fitting specialty contact lenses and managing ocular disease.
Aside from eyes, she is passionate about USC and Redskins football, yoga, foreign cuisine, and serving in overseas missions. Currently, she resides in Fairfax, Virginia with her husband.
Robert W. Stetekluh, OD
Dr. Robert Stetekluh provides part time coverage as an independent Optometrist at Nova Eye Care Center. He grew up in Northern Virginia and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1977. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from James Madison University in 1981 and his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in1985. He is well trained in providing comprehensive eye care, contact lens fitting, and evaluation and treatment of emergency and chronic eye diseases. After graduation, he returned to Northern Virginia and practice as an independent Optometrist in Alington next to Lenscrafter and a few private practices in this area. Dr. Stetekluh has performed eye examinations for the needy through the Gift of Sight program for many years and is a regular blood donor with American Red Cross.
